Job Description

This role as a Mechanical Support Engineer - Heat Shielding and Ducting involves:

  • Providing general mechanical support for engine bay ducting and heat shielding
  • Utilizing professional experience in body design and composites
  • Creating, delivering, and leading complete design proposals according to design briefs and project constraints using CATIA v5
  • Producing creative detailed design solutions fulfilling complex technical criteria
  • Participating in exterior design reviews
  • Attending project and engineering meetings
  • 3D package modeling
  • Design Sizing Analysis
  • Sub-system load analysis
  • Working knowledge of legal and legislative requirements

Nice to Have Criteria

The ideal candidate should possess the following skills:

  • Delivering design proposals according to design briefs and project constraints using CATIA v5
  • Producing creative detailed design solutions fulfilling complex technical criteria
  • Body packaging, concept studies, and detailed design, including sizing calculations and use of CAD/CAE to create viable sections
  • Leading and supporting design activities carried out in-house and at suppliers if required
  • Ensuring components and assemblies adhere to applicable industry and business standards
  • Supporting problem-solving activities during virtual and physical builds
  • Assessing all engineering prototypes to determine associated issues or risks, mitigating when and where found
  • Researching whether the design is feasible, functional, and cost-effective
  • Estimating cost limits and budgets for new designs
  • Representing the department in design reviews and during test and development activities if required
  • Designing components to the lowest feasible weight
  • Ensuring components and assemblies adhere to applicable internal, industry, business, and legislative standards and requirements
  • Coordinating own design work to deliver timely design releases and meeting all design for manufacture input from suppliers
  • Developing and specifying GD&T data sets on CAD models or drawings, taking into account all inputs from parts suppliers, assembly processes, and dimensional management studies
  • Creating presentation material for design reviews

Estimated Salary: £65,000-£85,000 per annum
