Job Title: Principal Test Engineer

Leonardo is seeking a Principal Test Engineer to join our Intelligence Solutions business. As a key member of our Test & Release capability, you will be responsible for ensuring the assurance of multiple projects.

The role will be focused on multi-tiered programmes that require a proactive Test Engineer with demonstrable experience in system engineering. You will be responsible for the delivery of successful projects and programmes via a testing focus for the end client.

You will be able to detect areas that do not comply with stated quality standards and policies and provide options for corrective action plans. You will also assist testers with troubleshooting errors and streamline testing procedures.

Assist in or lead in creating documents like instruction guides, procedure guides, specification reports, operation manuals, technical reports, and maintenance documents based on your in-depth understanding of the system gained through its comprehensive testing.

  • Responsible for ensuring all change projects and programmes develop appropriate test and transition management plans in collaboration with the operating business unit(s), delivery managers, and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coach and mentor any stakeholders involved or connected to the test and transition practices, assuring the readiness of the business for change and identifying associated risks and issues.
  • Work with the Teams to agree testing approaches, tooling, and issue mitigations identified within the various testing events.
  • Provide assurance, coaching, and mentoring to build a competent workforce capable of good practice test and transition activities.
  • Engage in end-to-end programme activities from requirements to hands-on testing activities.

The right candidate must demonstrate experience within a test manager role, providing extensive knowledge of test automation, test architecture, and test strategy. They will be responsible for overall strategy and transformation of the testing programme.

The role requires the candidate to be a sole UK National with a current DV clearance. They must have distinct work experience of performing a system test/engineering role, extensive experience with Test Automation, apparent experience in Programme Testing Management, strategic and technical leadership to support delivery of testing, analysis and definition of effective test strategy, and applications of testing knowledge with Waterfall/Agile methodologies.

A background in the defence industry would be desirable.
