Fast Food Systems Ltd, a family-owned business established in 1973, is a leading provider of quick service restaurants and equipment solutions. The company operates under various brands, including Southern Fried Chicken, AJ's Piri Piri, and Piccolo Pizza, as well as the Vizu brand, specializing in food quality maintenance systems.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Works Manager to oversee all aspects of production, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and exceptional quality standards. The successful candidate will lead a skilled team of engineers, technicians, and fabricators, managing workflows, schedules, and resources to optimize efficiency and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and oversee production activities to ensure efficient workflow and meet project deadlines.
  • Manage, motivate, and develop the production team, including engineers, fabricators, and workshop staff.
  • Monitor and allocate resources, including manpower, equipment, and materials, to optimize production processes.
  • Ensure all products and components meet company quality standards and customer specifications through rigorous inspection and testing procedures.
  • Enforce health and safety protocols, ensuring the workshop is compliant with all regulatory standards and promoting a safe working environment.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost savings, and efficiency gains within the production workflow.
  • Oversee production budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations without compromising quality.
  • Collaborate with the engineering, design, and project management teams to ensure smooth communication and coordination across departments.
  • Address and resolve any production-related issues or bottlenecks in a timely manner.
  • Maintain clear, accurate records of production data, KPIs, and progress reports, regularly reporting to senior management.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering, fabrication processes, and manufacturing technologies.
  • Proven experience in managing and developing teams, with strong leadership and motivational abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve production issues efficiently.
  • Thorough understanding of health and safety regulations, with a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Excellent planning, organisational, and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with other departments and communicate effectively with staff at all levels.
  • Proficiency in using production management software and Microsoft Office.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in sheet metal fabrication and or welding processes.
  • Familiarity with project management techniques and tools, including Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience implementing process improvements and efficiency initiatives in a production setting.
