About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Building Services Director to join our team at Hoare Lea. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a team of mechanical, electrical, and public health engineers to develop building services designs to BSRIA stages 4a-4c level of output.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of engineers to develop building services designs to BSRIA stages 4a-4c level of output
  • Lead the production of MEP services models to stage 4a-c level of detail
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with clients and other professionals
  • Contribute to bid preparation and attend interviews
  • Awareness of consultant appointment conditions
  • Define and agree brief with client
  • Good knowledge of construction procurement and associated risks
  • Lead larger scale schemes and coordinate all disciplines
  • Takes ownership and delivers profitable schemes
  • Competently represents all disciplines at project meetings
  • Manage and prioritize workload of project team
  • Host and chair team management meetings
  • Effectively delegate, manage, and check work undertaken by others
  • Able to develop effective relationships with well-developed interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Actively leads self and identifies opportunities for career development of others
  • Monitoring project expenditure and reporting to partners
  • Ensure quality standards and technical accuracy
  • Manage and mitigate risks to business
  • Effectively reports and communicates at all levels

Requirements

  • Experienced pro-active building services design manager
  • Has had extensive experience in production and delivery of stage 4 detailed design
  • Ability to deal with difficult situations in a non-adversarial manner
  • Strong technical knowledge in primary engineering discipline and relevant regulations
  • Good understanding of other disciplines
  • IT literate with technical understanding of relevant IT packages
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Extensive relevant industry experience
  • Commitment to deliver to demanding timescales
