Job Title: Senior Clinical Psychologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Clinical Psychologist to join our Perinatal Mental Health Service at Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialist psychological interventions to women experiencing or at risk of experiencing moderate to severe mental health conditions in the perinatal period.

About the Role

The postholder will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of perinatal mental health conditions. The successful candidate will have experience of working with complex cases and will be able to provide clinical supervision and line management to band 7 colleagues.

The postholder will also be responsible for leading on an area of service development and contributing to the management and operations of psychological interventions within the SPMHS. This will include identifying gaps in the service and assisting with service improvement and developing pathways of care to meet the service needs in line with National and Local strategies and evidence-based best practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist psychological interventions to women experiencing or at risk of experiencing moderate to severe mental health conditions in the perinatal period.
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of perinatal mental health conditions.
  • Provide clinical supervision and line management to band 7 colleagues.
  • Lead on an area of service development and contribute to the management and operations of psychological interventions within the SPMHS.
  • Identify gaps in the service and assist with service improvement and developing pathways of care to meet the service needs in line with National and Local strategies and evidence-based best practice.
Requirements

The successful candidate will have a relevant qualification in clinical psychology and will have experience of working in a mental health setting. They will also have experience of leadership and service development within the NHS and will be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of perinatal mental health and the needs of women in this population.

The postholder will be required to have a broad knowledge of specialist mental health services of mothers and their infants and the wider network of mental health services in the NHS. They will also be required to have knowledge of policies and procedures relating to Child Protection and to be able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
