Job Overview: As a Conservation and Land Management Specialist, you will be part of a frontline team responsible for managing and maintaining public areas within our woodland sites in Medway.
The successful candidate will have a professional qualification in countryside management or a similar subject, as well as relevant experience in land management, conservation, and maintenance. You will be able to identify key species of flora and fauna, possess knowledge of relevant legislation and health and safety guidelines, and have excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify maintenance needs and develop plans for improvement.
- Maintain public areas, including cutting back overgrown vegetation, repairing infrastructure, and improving habitats.
- Work with contractors to manage and supervise activities on site, ensuring compliance with health and safety guidelines.
- Enhance our valuable woodlands and greenspaces through conservation efforts and community engagement.
- Develop and implement strategies to promote Medway's parks and open spaces, aligning with Norse Group's values.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Professional qualification in countryside management or a similar subject.
- Relevant experience in land management, conservation, and maintenance.
- Ability to identify key species of flora and fauna and relevant wildlife.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and health and safety guidelines, including environmental management.
- Excellent communication skills, comfortable and confident when dealing with members of the public.
- Good IT skills.
- Able to work effectively both as an individual and as part of a team.
- Experience in working with landscaping power tools and chainsaw experience and license is an advantage.
