Neurology Nurse Practitioner

The post holder will be responsible for providing specialist support, care, advice, and education to patients, carers, healthcare staff, and other professionals attending the Neuro Day Care Unit.
Main Duties- Work clinically within the multidisciplinary team to support pathways relating to the care of people with neurological conditions.
- Undertake clinical investigations and procedures.
- Provide training and education to others.
- Deliver nurse-led clinics.
- Make clinical decisions and undertake managerial responsibilities to support the Day Care Unit.
The post holder will be a clinical expert in the management of neurological disease, proficient in clinical skills, and able to deliver nurse-led clinics. They must be able to work autonomously and have confidence in making decisions within the multidisciplinary team.

Person SpecificationThe post holder will need to have:
- Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration.
- Nursing degree or equivalent experience, training at academic level 6.
- Evidence of relevant continued professional development.
- To have completed the national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
They will also need to have:
- Significant post-graduate experience working with patients with a variety of neurological conditions.
- Completed an extensive programme, including clinical practice in lumbar puncture procedures and safely perform lumbar punctures on adults.
- Evidence of multi-disciplinary team working.
- Evidence of delivering training and education to others.
- Evidence of participating in audit and research.
Desirable criteria include experience of working in an extended role as an autonomous practitioner and high standard of written and verbal communication.
