Job Description
We are currently seeking a skilled Paediatric Anaesthetic Specialist to join our dedicated theatre team at the Birmingham Children's Hospital. This exciting opportunity allows individuals to develop core skills and gain valuable experience in a specialized centre for paediatric surgery. The successful candidate will work within a large multidisciplinary team, across various specialties, including complex cardiac surgery and day-case procedures.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care as part of a dynamic theatre team. Key duties include working effectively under pressure, communicating clearly with colleagues and patients, and maintaining accurate records. Additionally, the practitioner will have opportunities to contribute to education and training initiatives within the theatre environment. They will be expected to participate in on-call duties as required and work flexibly to meet service needs, including weekend and late shifts.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, candidates must hold an NMC registration as a Nurse or HCPC registration as an ODP. A BSc or Diploma in Nursing or Operating Department Practice, or equivalent qualification, is also required. Previous experience in post-registration operating department practice or current clinical nursing experience is essential. The ability to think quickly in a rapidly changing acute environment and use own professional judgement to make clinical decisions about patients' conditions and the level of care required is also crucial. The ideal candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, be able to work well independently and as part of a team, and engage with IT programmes that support patient care.
Salary and Benefits
