Job Title: SEN Support Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Support Assistant to join our specialist provision attached to an outstanding primary school in Bournemouth, Dorset.

About the Role:

As a SEN Support Assistant, you will become an integral part of our team, working within our Key Stage 1 provision to support a class of 9 pupils with varied educational needs.

Provide tailored support to children with ASC to enhance their learning and personal development.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist the teacher in planning and delivering inclusive and engaging lessons that meet the individual needs of the pupils.
  • Encourage the social and emotional development of pupils, fostering independence and confidence.
  • Work closely with the SLT and other professionals to monitor and support the pupils' progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of the pupils' development, reporting any concerns to the relevant personnel.
  • Facilitate communication between pupils and staff, enabling pupils to express their needs and assisting with the development of their communication skills.

Requirements:

Prior experience working with children with SEND, particularly those with ASC, is strongly preferred.

An NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent in Teaching Assistance or a related field is desirable.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, to interact effectively with pupils, staff, and parents.

Estimated Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum
