Primary 1:1 Teaching Assistant Role

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate Primary 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic Primary School in Ashington. As a Primary 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting a child with special educational needs (SEN), helping them to thrive both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide personalized support to a primary-aged child on a 1:1 basis.
  • Assist the class teacher in implementing tailored learning plans.
  • Encourage the child's participation in classroom activities.
  • Help maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and track the child's progress, ensuring they achieve their goals.
  • Offer emotional support and encouragement throughout the school day.
  • Collaborate with teachers and parents to ensure the child's needs are fully met.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant or in a similar role in primary settings.
  • A patient, nurturing, and supportive approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for supporting children with SEN.
  • Relevant qualifications or a willingness to undertake training.
  • A clear DBS check on the update service or willingness to apply for one.

Please note that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including providing an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or completing an application for a new check.
