Primary EAL Teaching Assistant Role

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Primary EAL Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic school in Ashington. As a Primary EAL Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children with their English language development in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supporting children with their English language development in the classroom
  • Assisting the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons
  • Helping children with reading, writing, and speaking English
  • Working with small groups or individual students to boost their confidence
  • Monitoring student progress and reporting to the teacher
  • Creating a welcoming environment that encourages learning
Requirements:
  • Experience working with primary-aged children, especially those with EAL needs
  • Strong communication skills and patience when working with children learning English
  • The ability to build positive relationships with children, teachers, and parents
  • A flexible and proactive approach to supporting different learning needs
  • A valid DBS on the update service (or willing to apply for one)
