Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Night Shift Engineer with an electrical bias to join our client's industrial processing business in Surrey. As a key member of the engineering team, you will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative, predictive, and breakdown maintenance, repairs, refurbishment, installation, improvement, and modification or upgrade of plant, fully automated production & packaging machinery, and site services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned maintenance and repairs to ensure the smooth operation of plant and machinery.
  • Drive continuous improvements and process improvement work to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Maintain and repair steam and boiler systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Follow PPM schedules efficiently and effectively to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Carry out project work including installation and modification of plant and machinery.
  • Electrical fault finding and modifications of PLC's, HMi's, SCADA Systems, and Control Panels.
  • Mechanical repair and fault finding of plant and machinery.
  • Work on hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, motors, contactors, inverters, sensors, drives, and valves to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Upkeep and alteration of electrical and mechanical drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage engineering stores and parts ordering to ensure efficient and effective maintenance.
Requirements
  • Multi-Skilled Engineer with a strong electrical bias (70/30 or 60/40).
  • NVQ Level 3 Electrical Engineering or Time-served Apprenticeship.
  • Ideal qualifications include City & Guilds / ONC / HNC in Electrical Engineering.
  • Excellent problem-solving and fault diagnosis skills to ensure efficient and effective maintenance.
  • Comfortable working permanent nights shifts sometimes unsupervised.
  • Knowledge of production environment, continuous improvements, and development to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding and repair skills to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment in FMCG manufacturing/production.
  • Experience of working on boilers and steam systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Experience of working on PLC systems, Control Panels, HMi's, and SCADA Systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Beneficial to have electrical safety knowledge of isolations and electrical H&S standards to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Experience of working on high-speed automated production machinery to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Bonus if have 17th / 18th Edition to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards to ensure safe and efficient operation.
