Week 2: Monday 7.30pm to 7.30am and Tuesday 8.00pm to 8.00am Family/Client Pets: Yes, 1 dog Recruiter: Jade (url removed) About this client/child: Rose is 15 years old and at the heart of a loving and supporting family; her Mum, Dad, and younger brother (10). She is an engaging, sweet, and happy young lady with a love for music, arts and crafts, cooking, listening to stories, and loud engaging activities. Rose sustained a brain injury at birth and as a result, is fully dependent on 2:1 support, around the clock. Rose has cerebral palsy, epilepsy, a tracheostomy, requires suctioning, a GJ tube (medication, nutrition, and fluid), and a visual impairment. Rose uses her eyes to communicate and can make her likes and dislikes known. Rose has a complex care team in place providing round-the-clock support, is home schooled and her house is fully adapted to meet all her needs. Overview of role: Rose has two waking night carers on shift together throughout the night. The first carer is predominantly in the room with Rose tending to all her needs whilst the second carer is on hand to assist when required with personal care, manual handing, hoisting, repositioning, if Rose has a seizure, and assisting with the morning routine. The position we are recruiting for, is the second waking night carer post. In this role you will be responsible for preparing PEG feeds, water, cleaning equipment such as the suction machine, nebulizer, syringes etc., drawing up medication, labeling etc., completing some ironing / laundry. Once you are settled into this role, completed all training, and feel confident caring and supporting Rose throughout the night; you may have the opportunity to take on the role as first carer. Who this job would suit: This is a busy family home and Rose’s team works like a well-oiled machine. For this position, it is imperative that you have previously supported a child/teen with complex care needs such as tube feeding, epilepsy, and/or suctioning. Training is provided however you must have the basic skill set in these areas. In line with the Equality Act 2010, only female applicants will be considered for this position. Non-smokers/vaper only.
