Crime and Intelligence Analyst Job Description

Adecco is pleased to be recruiting for a Crime and Intelligence Analyst to join Lincolnshire Police at the Nettleham HQ in Lincoln.

This is a temporary post for 12 months to cover MAT leave. The successful candidate will work 37 hours, Monday to Friday, at a rate of 16.46 per hour.

Please note that the successful candidate will have a Full UK Driver's Licence and be prepared to travel to visit different locations and attend various meetings and conferences.

Job Purpose and Scope:
  • Undertake crime and intelligence research and analytical work to assist the Force in targeting resources in support of policing priorities and to assist investigations through the production of intelligence and evidential standard products.
  • Analysts will work within an allocated thematic area to deliver strategic and tactical products, allowing for planning and delivery of mandatory and core work streams. Analysts will become subject matter experts in their allocated thematic area over a period of time.
  • Operational and investigative tasks will be shared within the Team to ensure necessary exposure to all types of analysis.
Core Work Areas:
  • Conduct analysis at a strategic, tactical, operational, and investigative level, identifying and using appropriate analytical tools and techniques to interpret gaps, identify series, patterns, and trends, assess threat, risk, and harm, and make recommendations in support of decision-making, prioritization, resource allocation, and strategy.
  • Deliver intelligence products in accordance with the analytical techniques outlined in NIM, the relevant tasking and coordinating processes, and current authorized professional practice (APP).
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a range of internal and external customers, including partner agencies. This will include providing advice, guidance, and recommendations regarding analytical products to ensure the customer is empowered to request the product best suited to their requirements, and considering, advising, negotiating, and agreeing terms of reference for intelligence and evidential analysis products with customers.
  • Undertake research methodologies to produce, inform, and deliver analytical products, including collecting, collating, and evaluating information in support of the creation of intelligence collection plans and the delivery of analytical products.
  • Research, extract, and collate information from all appropriate sources, utilizing available systems and products, including relevant databases and analytical software tools, to form comprehensive inferences and draw conclusions.
  • Create and test hypotheses and inferences to make evidence-based conclusions and make recommendations in support of decision-making at a strategic, tactical, operational, and investigative level.
  • Communicate complex analytical information and recommendations through the production of written reports, verbal briefings, and presentations to stakeholders, ensuring a concise and secure understanding of analytical findings and products. This includes the preparation, delivery, and presentation of evidential standard analytical products to ensure work, methodologies, and practices withstand the scrutiny of court proceedings, and attending court to present products as a Professional witness.
Essential Criteria:
  • Educated to degree standard or equivalent or proven substantial experience in a similar role.
  • ECDL or equivalent qualification.
  • Proven competence in using IT applications to input and extract data.
  • Demonstrates experience of working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrates experience in the preparation, presentation, and explanation of information.
  • Experience in the research of information from a variety of sources.
  • Experience in the use of Mapping systems.
  • Demonstrates experience of working in a confidential and sensitive environment.
  • You must have lived in the UK for at least the last 5 years continuously in order to apply for this position, this is due to Police Criteria.
