Chemotherapy Advanced Clinical Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chemotherapy Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join our dynamic team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in delivering Systematic Anticancer Treatment (SACT) for haematology and/or oncology patients and will be able to develop their skills as a nurse leader.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading in the management of extravasation, including training and audit, and will deliver safe and compliant quality standards of SACT at the local level. They will also conduct SACT competency and skills assessments as part of yearly re-assessment and skills.

The post-holder will need to demonstrate a high level of expertise within the SACT service and provide advice, education, and support to staff, patients, and their families and carers. They will be responsible for leading in ensuring that we maintain compliance with SACT delivery in line with clinical governance, motivate colleagues, champion service user safety and dignity, and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert staff who will deliver SACT within the trust.
  • Deliver innovative nurse-led SACT service, working closely with nurse practitioners to run clinics for patients receiving home delivery or self-administration of SACT.
  • Lead in SACT training and updates, including leading on the digital SACT competency passport.
  • Lead in training and assessing staff in the management of Central Venous Access Device (CVADs) and leading CVAD passport training for Chartwell CDU.
  • Provide support and teaching for Chartwell CDU staff.
  • Support patients and their families to be fully informed and supported by providing clinical, emotional, psychological, and social assessment.
  • Deliver and assist in the development of evidence-based clinical nursing practice in line with current research and guidelines.
  • Be an advocate for patients undergoing cancer treatment.
  • Provide advice and support to non-oncology healthcare professionals regarding cancer management and patient support.

The post-holder will be responsible for running nurse-led clinics in the chemotherapy day unit, including pre-chemotherapy consultation, and will work closely with interdependent services to ensure compliance with quality standards.

Person Specification
  • Non-Medical Prescribing Course
  • SACT accredited course
  • Significant experience at a senior level (Band 7 or above) in cancer or acute care
  • MSc Level qualification or equivalent CATs
  • Teaching and Mentoring qualification
