The Estates department at Furness General Hospital is a team of skilled professionals responsible for the maintenance and operation of the hospital's engineering and building systems.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Building Services Engineer to join our team. As a Building Services Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and continuous operation of all engineering and building plant and equipment, in accordance with statutory requirements, codes of practice, and Trust procedures.
Main Duties- Ensure the safe and continuous operation of all engineering and building plant and equipment.
- Perform out-of-hours site maintenance responsibilities.
- Act as the Trust's Fire Controlling Officer and undertake duties during a fire event.
- Carry out line manager duties for contractors.
- Full Electrical, Mechanical or Plumbing and Heating apprenticeship up to HNC/HND + Specialist knowledge in relevant area or equivalent degree level experience.
- Completion of NHS-specific training within the first 12 months of employment.
- Experience of engineering and building services installations.
- Experience of HTM's and HBN's.
- Experience of the capital bidding process.
- Experience of security systems.
- Knowledge of legal, statutory, and non-statutory legislation.
- Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information.
- Ability to work unsupervised, including during unsociable hours.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Good leadership, influencing, planning, and team building skills.
- Good analytical skills.
