Job Title: Maintenance Engineer

Sims Limited is a global leader in metal recycling, and we are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team. As a responsible corporate citizen, we strive to create a world without waste and preserve our planet.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a knowledgeable and supportive Maintenance Manager in Stalybridge. The role involves providing technical support to the Operations Engineering Manager, ensuring plant and equipment functionality, and compliance with current legislation.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and implement planned maintenance systems on site.
  2. Carry out breakdown repairs to minimize plant downtime.
  3. Manage electrical/mechanical contract staff.
  4. Assist in Risk Assessments and implement action points.
  5. Provide technical support to Supervisors in plant operations.
  6. Assist in maintaining plant availability and production at the highest possible level.
  7. Identify opportunities for process improvements and energy efficiency.
  8. Perform other duties as required by the Company.
  9. Comply with all Company policies related to Code of Conduct, Environmental, Health and Safety, and Community.
Key Skills/Competencies:

The ideal candidate will have exceptional organizational skills, a high level of attention to detail, and accuracy. They will possess excellent interpersonal skills, be self-motivated, flexible, and adaptable. Strong written and verbal communication skills, combined with integrity and confidentiality, are essential. Good IT skills and the ability to manage time effectively are also required. The candidate should be educated to Approved Electrician standard, with experience in supervising contractors, and possess thorough technical skills, including PLC's, variable speed drives, instrumentation, and installation. Sound knowledge of electrical safety legislation and good Mechanical knowledge are necessary. Previous experience in working on Shredding and size reduction equipment, Metals and plastics separation equipment, and conveyor transportation systems equipment would be advantageous.
