Job Overview

The East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced midwife to join our maternity team. As a midwife practitioner, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to women and their families throughout the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide autonomous midwifery care to women and their families, working within the framework of the NMC Rules and Standards and East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust protocols and guidelines.
  • Work as a primary care provider, attending women during the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods, and providing care that meets the physical, emotional, educational, and social needs of the mother, baby, and family.
  • Assess, plan, and implement care within the sphere of practice of a midwife, taking into account the individual needs of each woman and family.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care, and participate in multidisciplinary teams to achieve excellent patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, and contribute to the development of policies and procedures that promote high-quality care.
Requirements
  • Registered Midwife with current NMC registration.
  • Post-registration experience in midwifery, with a strong understanding of the NMC Rules and Standards and East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust protocols and guidelines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with women, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Flexibility and self-reliance, with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date records, and contribute to the development of policies and procedures that promote high-quality care.
