We are seeking experienced and newly qualified midwives to join our midwifery teams in both hospital and community settings at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust.
Main Responsibilities- Provide high-quality care to women, babies, and families throughout the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods.
- Advise on health promotion and seek support to address the health needs of women.
- Recognize and respond to physical, emotional, and social situations that may impact the health and well-being of mothers and babies.
- Assess, plan, and implement care within the scope of midwifery practice, meeting the physical, emotional, educational, and social needs of mothers, babies, and families.
- Initiate and implement care plans involving other disciplines and seek assistance when required.
- Interpret and undertake care prescribed by registered medical practitioners.
- Support and care for women and families experiencing emotional and distressing circumstances.
- Maintain accurate records and be responsible for data entry into computer-based systems.
- Participate in risk management and be aware of the risk management strategy and incident reporting criteria.
- Be aware of the needs of our multicultural and diverse community, including vulnerable and disadvantaged families.
- Assist in the running of the ward and take charge in the absence of senior staff.
- Assist in the introduction of new staff to the ward and help supervise their work.
- Be aware of child protection issues and refer to senior colleagues.
