Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Assistant Chef Manager to join our team at Holroyd Howe. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for assisting the Chef in planning, preparing, and serving daily meals for students, staff, and visitors. This role requires a strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations, as well as the ability to deputise for the Chef Manager when required. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chef in meal planning, preparation, and service, ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Support the lunchtime meal service for a local Primary school.
  • Prepare and cook meals in line with food safety regulations and ensure proper use of kitchen equipment.
  • Assist with catering at special events and functions, including some work outside normal hours.
  • Help build and promote the food brand, aiming to sustain interest and increase sales.
  • Operate the cashless till system and produce cost/sales reports as needed.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and health & safety in the kitchen.


Requirements

  • Previous experience in a catering or kitchen environment, ideally within a school or hospitality setting.
  • Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations (Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate preferred).
  • Ability to assist in meal planning, preparation, and service, ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Proven ability to deputise for the Chef Manager when required, demonstrating leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Experience with cashless till systems and basic financial reporting.
  • Creative and proactive in recommending service improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, ensuring safe food storage, handling, and preparation.
