Job Description:

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Senior Science Technician to join our dedicated team at a secondary school in Fareham. As a key member of the science faculty, you will work closely with teaching staff to ensure the smooth delivery of practical science lessons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the organization of prep rooms to ensure all practical experiments are prepared efficiently and correctly.
  • Manage the preparation of laboratory materials for biology, chemistry, and physics lessons, adhering to the highest standards.
  • Support teaching staff in delivering engaging, hands-on lessons by providing technical expertise and guidance.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all aspects of laboratory work.
  • Oversee stock levels, maintenance of equipment, and ordering of resources to keep the science department running smoothly.
  • Be an active member of the school community, including attending open evenings and assisting with Saturday transition workshops.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within a secondary school or educational setting.
  • A strong understanding of health and safety in a science laboratory environment, including COSHH and CLEAPSS regulations.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • A proactive attitude and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in managing prep rooms, resources, and equipment, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the department.
  • Confidence in supporting teachers and students with technical expertise, ensuring that practical science lessons are safe and successful.
