About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Surgical Site Infection Surveillance Nurse to join our team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Infection Prevention and Control team, you will play a vital role in preventing and controlling surgical site infections, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the development and implementation of surgical site infection surveillance and prevention strategies across the trust.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to identify and address areas for improvement in surgical site infection prevention and control.
- Develop and maintain accurate and comprehensive data on surgical site infections, including analysis and reporting of trends and outcomes.
- Provide education and training to staff on surgical site infection prevention and control best practices.
- Work closely with the Infection Prevention and Control team to ensure compliance with national guidelines and standards for surgical site infection prevention and control.
- Registered Nurse with significant registration experience and substantial experience within a surgical setting.
- Up-to-date knowledge of surgical nursing practice and infection control principles.
- Ability to motivate and influence individuals through facilitating and fostering excellent working relationships with colleagues across the trust.
- Experience of undertaking RCA/investigatory work and leading a team.
