Job Title: Public Health Outreach Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Public Health Outreach Specialist to join our team at Austin Fraser. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing outreach programs aimed at increasing awareness and knowledge about cancer prevention, early signs and symptoms of cancer, and cancer screening.

The role will involve working closely with community leaders, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to maximize engagement opportunities. You will also have the opportunity to develop and implement effective communication strategies to reach diverse audiences.

Main Objectives:
  1. To design and implement outreach programs that engage Barnet communities, including target communities listed above, to raise awareness of cancer prevention, early signs and symptoms of cancer, and cancer screening.
  2. To identify and develop practical solutions which address concerns and practical barriers to accessing health screening amongst people in target communities where uptake is low.
  3. To support these same communities to increase their understanding and ability to prevent ill health and manage wider health conditions as well as provide insight to local partners about barriers to health improving interventions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing effective outreach strategies to engage diverse audiences.
  • Collaborating with community leaders, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to maximize engagement opportunities.
  • Awareness of wider health inequalities in Barnet.
  • Experience working or living well with priority communities in Barnet.
  • Ability to educate individuals or groups on complex health information.
  • Strong interpersonal and listening skills.
  • Digital skills to share information and promote events.

Salary: £27,010 per annum (pro-rata for part-time post-holder). Job Type: Fixed term for 18 months, 15 hours per week.
