Cyber Evaluations Team at the AI Safety Institute is developing infrastructure to benchmark the progress of advanced AI capabilities in cyber security. We are seeking Research Engineers to help us create new kinds of capability and safety evaluations, and scale up our capacity to evaluate frontier AI systems.

What You Will Do:

You will play a key role in running experiments on frontier models, communicating and interpreting results, and building better tooling for measuring and understanding risk due to increases in model capability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Run experiments to measure the performance of AI systems on tasks related to cyber security
  • Communicate and interpret results to inform policy decisions
  • Build and maintain software systems to support research requirements

As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work with a range of Cyber Security and policy specialists to measure the capabilities of AI systems against scenarios covered by our risk models.

Requirements:
  • Strong background in machine learning and AI security
  • Experience building software systems to meet research requirements
  • Knowledge of training, fine-tuning, and evaluating current cutting-edge machine learning systems

We offer a competitive salary of $125,000 - $185,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as a range of benefits including comprehensive health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
