Setting Out Specialist for Somerset Project

We are seeking an experienced Setting Out Engineer to join our team in Yeovil, Somerset. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in setting out and be able to work effectively with the Environmental Agency.

The project is expected to run for 4 months and involves working on-site to set out accurate survey points and ensure construction progresses smoothly.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Competent use of total station, laser level, and dual grade instruments
  • Accurate setting out ahead of construction progress
  • Taking off and surveys for material quantities
  • Exporting data from AutoCAD for site use

In addition to technical skills, the successful candidate will also be responsible for:

  • Writing and managing Inspection Test Plans (ITPs)
  • Completing and controlling check sheets
  • Raising Technical Queries (TQs)
  • Recording and controlling material certification files
  • Carrying out as-built surveys and red-line drawings

The role also requires strong Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) skills, including:

  • Writing and monitoring RAMS for site activities
  • Supervising construction activities
  • Completing and issuing permits ahead of time
  • Conducting basic site audits

We offer a competitive salary of £55,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on experience, and a range of benefits including professional development opportunities and a supportive team environment.
