School Improvement Leader

A primary school in Sunderland is seeking a dedicated volunteer to drive school improvement by becoming a chair of governors.
Governing bodies are responsible for the strategic management of a school, making decisions on various issues.
Main Responsibilities:- Accountability and Support: Ensure accountability and provide support and challenge to the senior leadership team.
- School Progress Evaluation: Monitor and evaluate the school's progress, ensuring it meets its aims and values.
- Budgetary Allocation: Allocate and control budgets effectively, shaping plans for school improvement and overseeing their implementation.
- School Governance: Set the school's aims and values, appointing senior members of staff, including the Head Teacher.
A school governing body consists of representatives from the school, parents, and the local community.
This vacancy is for a primary school catering to students aged 2-11.
You must be over 18, but you don't need to be a parent or have children of school age. As a Chair of Governors, you'll work in partnership with Head Teachers and the Senior Management Team to deliver the best possible education, helping children realize their expectations and aspirations.
You'll also have the opportunity to meet children, parents, and teachers, seeing the impact of your work first-hand.

- Gain experience outside of your job description and skills you can bring back to work.
You will need to complete an application form and have an interview with the school. DBS checks will be conducted.
