Job Summary:

This is an exciting opportunity to join Argyll & Bute Council's Regulatory Services team as an Environmental Health Specialist. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality environmental health services to the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake a range of environmental health enforcement activities, including public health and food safety inspections.
  • Work closely with the team to address unique challenges in the rural geographical area, including private water supplies and a significant food manufacturing and export market.
  • Manage your own district workload, ensuring that environmental health standards are met, and travel across the area to undertake operational work.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues and stakeholders on environmental health matters.

Requirements:

  • Hold the Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland (REHIS) Diploma in Environmental Health or equivalent qualification.
  • Have a strong understanding of environmental health principles and practices.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to travel across the area to undertake operational work.
