The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Actuary with pricing experience to join our team at Unum UK. As a specialist employee benefits provider, we strive to create healthy, happy workplaces, and we believe that our Actuarial teams play a crucial role in achieving this goal.

Our Actuarial teams manage the pricing, reserve support, and reporting for our businesses. We have a robust development program that provides a rich learning environment for all levels, and our Actuarial Consultants are expected to move between functions and develop competence in the different Actuarial areas.

We operate a hybrid working model, and we would like this person to be in Dorking one day per week, with at least one other day spent in Basingstoke, London, or Dorking.

Key Responsibilities
  • To own Actuarial tasks, understand the broader business implications, and provide Actuarial and Senior Management with comprehensive insight into those tasks and their outcomes.
  • To proactively liaise with the broader business, provide expertise and guidance, and lead business thought in areas of expertise.
  • To communicate confidently and effectively on technical topics to a wide range of audiences and influence cross-functional business decision-making.
Requirements
  • Student or ex-student Actuary with a high number of Actuarial examination passes or significant experience.
  • Highly numerate.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with business stakeholders.
  • Motivated, enthusiastic, and inquisitive.
  • The ability to work under pressure, managing own time to meet tight deadlines and managing competing and conflicting demands within your workload.
