Job Summary

The NHS is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of Nursing and Quality to lead the Nursing Directorate in delivering high-quality services for all. This is a senior leadership role that requires a strong clinical background, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to quality and patient safety.

About the Role

The Director of Nursing and Quality will be responsible for providing strategic leadership to the Nursing Directorate, ensuring that patients receive high-quality care and treatment. This will involve working closely with the Regional Chief Nurse and other senior management team members to develop and implement a strategic approach to quality improvement and patient safety.

The successful candidate will have significant experience as a senior nurse or midwife, with a strong track record of leadership and quality improvement. They will be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of the NHS values and a commitment to promoting a culture of continuous service improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership to the Nursing Directorate, ensuring that patients receive high-quality care and treatment.
  • Work closely with the Regional Chief Nurse and other senior management team members to develop and implement a strategic approach to quality improvement and patient safety.
  • Lead the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives, including safety, safeguarding, and patient experience.
  • Support the Chief Nurse in delivering the objectives of the region, including improving quality and outcomes.
  • Operate in a matrix fashion, utilising specialists and bringing clinical expertise to bear across the organisation to ensure clinical engagement and coordination is at the heart of the assurance and improvement roles.
Person Specification
  • Qualified nurse or midwife with a current registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council.
  • Relevant Master's degree or equivalent.
  • Significant experience as a senior nurse or Midwife.
  • Experience at board level (including as a deputy) or equivalent within a provider NHS trust/ foundation trust, ICS/CCG or an Arm's length body.
  • Proven high level leadership skills at a national and senior level within the health service.
  • Commitment to and focussed on quality, promotes high standards in all they do.
