About the Basic Package of Support (BPS)

The BPS is a programme designed to support young people going through the transition from school to adulthood. Our programme provides ongoing, one-on-one coaching support to help young people develop and reach their goals.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide support and guidance to NEET youth in line with the BPS programme
  2. Support the mobilisers with recruitment of young NEETs onto the BPS programme
  3. Store and manage client information
  4. Implement the BPS tools and processes to assess young people's barriers to opportunities, identify goals, and develop action plans
  5. Track progress against action plans and conduct referrals to various services
  6. Provide ongoing support and follow-up
  7. Establish and maintain a directory of quality referral services and resources
  8. Stay updated with future career trends and opportunities available to young NEETs
  9. Support young NEETs to use partner platforms to identify and connect to opportunities
  10. Communicate with clients' parents or primary caregivers, where relevant
  11. Participate in the Community of Practice
  12. Support the ongoing learning and development of Youth Coaches to enable quality delivery of the BPS programme
  13. Oversee the NACCW aspects of the implementation of the BPS to NEET youth
  14. Communicate effectively with youth
  15. Demonstrate ethical and professional behaviour
  16. Manage diversity
  17. Display strong leadership and management skills
  18. Use career information effectively for NEET youth
  19. Advance the employability of youth
  20. Advance the professional development of youth coaches
  21. Facilitate non-standardised self-exploration career assessments
  22. Demonstrate empathy
  23. Demonstrate optimism
  24. Use creativity when solving problems
  25. Display good time management
  26. Have computer skills at an intermediate level
  27. Organise and plan meetings
  28. Support the Site manager to manage stakeholder relations
  29. Plan diaries for youth coaches and self
  30. Promote and uphold the rights of children and youth
  31. Apply personal development strategies and skills to enhance effective service delivery
  32. Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with youth, and their families
  33. Identify and analyse grassroots project needs and communicate them with the management and research team
  34. Provide support to youth coaches, mobilisers, and project personnel in times of crisis
Stakeholder Relations
  1. Support the site manager in representing the project at local and sub-district stakeholder meetings
  2. Consult with relevant stakeholders internal and/or external
  3. Advocate for the project in various contexts
Administration
  1. Adhere to SOPs
  2. Oversee data capture of youth coaches in an online case management system
  3. Report writing
  4. Conduct Youth Coach meetings
  5. Support and monitor implementation of target schedule
  6. Plan diary and monthly activity schedule for self and Youth Coaches
  7. Attend Site team meetings
Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Attributes) Required
  • FETC: Child and Youth Care Work or a Diploma in Child and Youth Development
  • If FETC only, studying towards a related qualification is essential
  • Must be registered with SACSSP
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Child and Youth Care Worker
  • 1-2 years of experience as a Senior Child and Youth Care Worker, leading a team of CYCWs
  • Intermediate computer skills and ability to work across various technology platforms
  • Experience working in youth development programmes for young NEETs (advantageous)
  • Experience delivering work-readiness training, or career guidance to young people (advantageous)
  • Willingness to travel
  • A valid driver's license and have driving experience is essential
