About the Role

This role will sit primarily with our Climate, Environment and Sustainability Programme, supporting data centre members on their sustainability challenges. The successful candidate will convene member meetings, develop policy positions, engage policymakers, and make the case for digital tech as a solution to sustainability challenges in the UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead key sustainability topics and working groups, including ESG disclosures and corporate reporting, data centre sustainability, biodiversity, and nature.
  • Inform members of new policies, regulations, voluntary standards, and cross-industry sustainability initiatives.
  • Support members and the team in developing policy positions across sustainability topics, including human rights, supply chain due diligence, e-waste, climate change, and the circular economy.
  • Deputise for the Associate Director and Head of Data Centres at events, government meetings, and member workshops.
  • Draft briefings for MPs, officials, and Ministers on key sustainability topics.
  • Coordinate techUK and member responses to government consultations, summaries of government announcements/legislation, and parliamentary responses.
About You

We are looking for a self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills and good communication abilities. Key qualifications include a good understanding of government and politics' impact on business, preferably in sustainability. Experience lobbying for political and regulatory change is essential. An understanding of data centres and digital infrastructure in the UK is also required.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is estimated to be £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, based on industry standards and location. This is a full-time position based out of techUK's London offices, with a flexible working policy. Permission to work in the UK is required prior to commencement of employment.
