Senior Bridge Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Bridge Engineer to join our client design team at Carrington West. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing, overseeing, and delivering high-quality bridge designs, assessments, and maintenance solutions in line with client requirements and within time and budget constraints.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and oversee sound bridge design, assessment, and maintenance solutions that meet client requirements within budget and timescale.
  2. Design solutions in compliance with national design standards, procedures, and client-specific requirements.
  3. Produce and review scheme documents, reports, and design checks for accuracy and quality.
  4. Contribute to the delivery of feasibility reports and design checks, ensuring compliance with processes and procedures.
  5. Ensure designs adhere to relevant health and safety legislation, including the CDM (Construction Design and Management) Regulations.
  6. Oversee the production of designs that meet quality management standards, including site-specific audits.
  7. Report regularly on project progress to line managers and clients, ensuring clear communication on timescales and deliverables.
  8. Mentor and support the development of junior staff to enhance in-house structural capabilities.
  9. Perform structural inspections and lead structural assessments as required.
  10. Ensure adherence to health and safety policies within the workplace and across projects.
Essential Requirements:
  1. Chartered Engineer (CEng MICE, MIStructE, or equivalent).
  2. Proven experience in a similar role, particularly within Highways.
  3. Strong understanding of bridge design standards and analysis techniques.
  4. Experience with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) preferred but not essential.
  5. Track record of managing and delivering projects within specified budgets and timelines.
