The successful candidate will have experience working with older adults and be passionate about delivering high-quality care in an inpatient setting.

The post offers the opportunity to work across two wards, Poppy Ward and Rose Ward, both located at Gosport War Memorial Hospital.

Poppy Ward provides care to older people with organic conditions such as dementia and behaviour that challenges. The role will involve providing psychological assessment, formulation, and therapeutic interventions to patients and their carers, as well as being a source of advice to the multi-professional team on psychological issues.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of assistant psychologists, graduate psychologists, trainee clinical psychologists, and band 7 clinical psychologists.

Liaising with other team members, psychologists, and members of other disciplines and agencies responsible for a patient's care is also a key aspect of the role.

Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS Foundation Trusts in the UK, specialising in mental health and learning disabilities, as well as offering physical health community-based services.

The trust has a workforce of over 7000 and operates across more than 200 sites across Hampshire.

In July 2024, Southern Health will merge with Isle of Wight NHS Foundation Trust to form a new organisation, Hampshire and Isle of Wight NHS Foundation Trust.

The salary for this position is estimated to be around £55,000-£60,000 per annum, depending on experience.
