Senior Mechanical Engineer Job Description

About the Role

We are looking for a talented Senior Mechanical Engineer to bring their expertise to our client's product development team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems, instruments, and peripherals. Your experience in CAD packages, particularly Solid Works, will be essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and develop mechanical systems, instruments, and peripherals to meet the requirements of product managers, manufacturing, service, support, and installation.
  2. Plan and manage deliverables on time, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently and effectively.
  3. Select and manage suppliers, conduct quality inspections, and hand over to procurement.
  4. Design and document prototype and instrument testing to meet mechanical requirements.
  5. Consider component supply cost, lead time, and end-of-life implications.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. A BEng or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  2. Experience in CAD packages, particularly Solid Works.
  3. Start-up experience, preferably in deep technology, combined hardware/software products, laser spectroscopy, or photonics.
  4. Design for Manufacture, Service, and Support expertise.
  5. Experience designing and conducting sub-component and final product testing.
  6. Packaging design for shipment experience is desirable.
