About the Role

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our inclusive and supportive school community. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in assisting students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide academic support to students with learning difficulties or disabilities, adapting learning materials and strategies to meet individual needs.
  • Work closely with teachers to ensure that students with special educational needs (SEN) or other learning challenges receive the tailored support they need to thrive.
  • Support the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) by working alongside classroom teachers and the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting self-esteem and independence among students.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers to ensure that students receive appropriate support.
  • Collaborate with teachers to plan activities and learning interventions that support the academic, social, and emotional development of students.
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar role is desirable.
  • Knowledge of SEN and an understanding of various learning needs and challenges.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and child protection, with all applicants required to undergo background checks, including an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or the willingness to apply for one.
