Job Title: SEMH Learning Support Assistant

Job Type: Full-time

Location: Colchester

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a SEMH Learning Support Assistant. As a SEMH Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students who require additional help due to SEMH challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting SEMH Students: Provide individualized support to SEMH students in classroom settings, ensuring they have access to the curriculum and participate fully in school activities.
  • Implementing IEPs and Behavior Management Strategies: Work closely with teaching staff and external specialists to implement tailored strategies that foster academic progress and emotional wellbeing.
  • Building Rapport and Trust: Establish a supportive and nurturing environment by building rapport and trust with students.
  • Collaborating with Teachers: Collaborate with teachers to monitor progress and development of SEMH students.
  • Promoting Positive Behavior: Promote positive behavior and emotional regulation techniques to support SEMH students.

Requirements:

  • Experience Working with SEMH Students: Previous experience working with SEMH students in a school or similar setting.
  • Understanding of SEMH Challenges: Understanding of SEMH challenges and effective strategies to support these needs.
  • Ability to Manage Challenging Behavior: Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging behavior sensitively.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with staff, parents, and external agencies.
