Supporting Children with Complex Needs

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a specialist school in rural Surrey. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people with complex learning disabilities, severe social communication difficulties, and behavioural challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with special educational needs in the classroom, helping them engage with lessons and complete tasks in line with their learning plans.
  • Encourage the development of social skills by facilitating peer interactions and participation in group activities.
  • Monitor and document student progress, reporting to teachers, parents, and other professionals to help refine support strategies.
  • Provide personal care support, including feeding, toileting, and mobility assistance, ensuring the comfort and well-being of students.

Requirements:

  • Empathy, enthusiasm, compassion, and mental, physical, and emotional resilience.
  • At least 6 months of experience working in care or education, preferably with children or young people with special needs.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a car due to the rural location.
