Job Title: SEN Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SEN Specialist to join our team at Protocol Education. As a SEN Specialist, you will work closely with mainstream primary schools in Richmond to provide support to pupils with special educational needs.

About the Role:

This is a long-term position, and we are looking for someone who can commit to working with us for an extended period. The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working with pupils on a 1:1 basis, particularly those with speech and language difficulties or behavioural issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide support to pupils with special educational needs in a mainstream primary school setting
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized learning plans
  • Use Makaton, PECS, and other communication systems to support pupils with complex needs
  • Manage challenging behaviour and develop strategies to promote positive behaviour
  • Collaborate with other professionals, including speech therapists and occupational therapists, to provide a comprehensive support package

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Relevant qualifications and experience working with pupils with special educational needs
  • Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, and other communication systems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
