Electrical Compliance Engineer Job Description

Collaborate Recruitment is seeking an experienced Electrical Compliance Engineer to join our client's team in the Poole area. As a key member of the quality team, you will be responsible for ensuring the company's products meet the highest standards of electrical safety and compliance.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, with experience in quality testing and compliance. You will be expected to demonstrate a thorough understanding of international safety standards, including those related to machinery equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement an effective legal compliance program, focusing on international safety standards.
  • Act as the company expert and technical authority for legislative compliance and product safety.
  • Conduct detailed testing on new and existing products, generating reports for use in manuals and documentation.
  • Maintain and update approvals and certifications on units to the latest relevant standards.
  • Ensure all parts used in products are compliant with relevant directives and standards.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of current worldwide compliance regulations.
  • Assume responsibility for UL/METlabs inspections and approvals, and carry out corrective actions as needed.
  • Produce product-level risk assessments to ISO 12100.
  • Audit company procedures, practices, and documents to identify potential weaknesses or risks.
Requirements:
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety standards, with a focus on electronics and electrical installations.
  • Ability to understand schematic diagrams and electronic component function.
  • Understanding of machinery directives.
  • Document writing and reporting experience.
  • PAT and Flash testing experience, as well as general electrics (including 3-phase systems).
  • Certificates of conformance are desirable but not essential.
  • Meticulous and methodical approach to work.
  • Strong communication skills.
