Job Opportunity: Paediatric Medicine Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity to take on a challenging and varied post at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital. As a Paediatric Medicine Specialist, you will be contracted for an average of 3 programmed clinic activities per week in general paediatrics and diabetes and will contribute to general paediatrics second-on weeks, winter second on weekends and resident shifts. There will also be a requirement to contribute to the diabetes hot weeks and on calls.

Main Duties

The appointee will be responsible for assessing and examining children and young people where there are safeguarding concerns. You will also be required to contribute to the development of research in the Trust and have the opportunity to publish in peer-reviewed journals.

Person Specification
  • Essential:
    • MBChB or equivalent
    • Postgraduate qualification - MRCPCH or equivalent
    • Completion of general professional training (paediatric medicine)
    • Completion of higher specialist training in paediatric medicine with relevant experience/qualifications in managing paediatric diabetes. Must be on the specialist register or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT or equivalent at the time of interview.
    • Experience of teaching medical students and junior medical staff
  • Desirable:
    • MD, PhD or other higher degree
    • Experience of audit
    • Publications in peer-reviewed journals or demonstrable commitment to developing research in the Trust
