Lighting Artist

We are seeking a skilled Lighting Artist to join our development team at Dovetail Games. As a Lighting Artist, you will be responsible for creating stunning lighting effects for our games, working closely with the game Lead Engineers and Art Leads to craft high-quality lighting that enhances our game environments and vehicles.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement lighting techniques to create realistic and immersive game environments.
  • Collaborate with designers and technical artists to create balanced and atmospheric lighting for in-game environments and cinematics.
  • Work with Technical Artists and Engineers to create lighting-specific tools and features.
  • Optimize lighting performance and ensure runtime efficiency.
  • Author pre-baked and real-time lighting via proprietary software.
  • Create lighting-related visual effects, including fire, heat glows, and post effects.
Requirements:
  • 1-2 years of lighting experience on PC or console hardware (Xbox One, Xbox Series S & X, PS4, PS5).
  • Experience with Physically Based Rendering tools.
  • General understanding of Shaders and materials.
  • Working knowledge of 2D packages such as Photoshop/Substance/Quixel.
  • Knowledge of 3D packages such as 3DS Max or Maya.
  • Knowledge of the Unreal Engine or similar.
