About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Lighting Artist to join our development team at Dovetail Games. As a Lighting Artist, you will be responsible for creating stunning lighting effects for our games, working closely with the game Lead Engineers and Art Leads to craft high-quality lighting that enhances our game environments and vehicles.

Responsibilities:

* Understand composition and the ability to enhance environments and locations through lighting.
* Experience with Physically Based Rendering tools.
* General understanding of Shaders and materials.
* 1-2 years of lighting experience on PC or console hardware (Xbox One, Xbox Series S & X, PS4, PS5, ).
* Work with the designers and technical artists to create balanced and atmospheric lighting for in-game environments and cinematics.
* Work with Technical Artists and Engineers to create lighting-specific tools and features.
* Make any changes requested in an iterative intense pipeline.
* Author pre-baked and real-time lighting via proprietary software.
* Create lighting-related visual effects including fire, heat glows, and post effects.
* Maintain and ensure runtime performance and optimize when required.
* Undertake performance profiling and optimization of the UE4 and UE5 engine across multiple platforms.

What We Look For In You:

* Be able to rise to the challenges and problem solve when required.
* Passion to raise the bar in video game lighting.
* Working knowledge of 2D packages such as Photoshop/Substance/Quixel.
* Knowledge of 3D packages such as 3DS Max or Maya.
* Knowledge of the Unreal Engine or similar.
* Knowledge in a variety of baked and real-time lighting methods.
