Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire and Safety Engineer to join our team. As a Fire and Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for participating in feasibility studies, design studies, and modification studies of fire, explosion, and internal flooding protection installations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Participate in feasibility studies, design studies, and modification studies of fire, explosion, and internal flooding protection installations, following applicable regulations and standards or in-house methodologies.
  2. Participate in audits and diagnostics of fire, explosion, and internal flooding protection installations.
  3. With the support of a Senior Fire Safety Engineer, perform internal fire, explosion, and flooding calculation and simulation studies.
  4. Perform risk analysis following applicable methods and determine suitable and pragmatic recommendations that cope with the project and client's objectives/constraints.
  5. Define scenarios and identify assumptions, choose the correct model, collect and implement data into the model, perform calculations, analyze results, and draft the synthesis.
  6. Include requirements from other competence centres, project safety referential, plant safety report, insurer, codes, norms, standards, and regulations.
  7. Present and share analyses with the client.
  8. Ensure budget, planning, and studies scope are compliant with project and client requirements.
  9. Participate in equipment and services procurement with the support of a buyer and a Senior Fire Engineer, including writing technical specifications and preparing the call for tenders.
  10. Perform technical clarifications/bid alignment and support procurement stakeholders during commercial negotiations with suppliers.
  11. Contract management: follow-up of the contractor's activities including associated reporting, review studies, manufacturing in close cooperation with quality monitoring stakeholders and clients, installation on-site, and follow-up of the payment schedule and prospective variation orders.
  12. Perform contract closure activities: provisional acceptance, punch list, contractor's evaluation, after-action review, and REX.

Requirements

  1. Drive to become a technical expert in this field.
  2. Recently graduated from university holding a relevant master-level engineering degree (Mechanical Engineer, Fire Safety Engineer, Nuclear Engineer is an asset).
  3. Familiarity with fire safety and/or fluid mechanics modelling.
  4. Proficiency with calculation & simulation software (Magic, Sylvia, FDS/Pyrosim, Flashcat, or equivalent).
  5. Mastery of the English language (any knowledge of French, though not required, would be a plus).
  6. Good computer and data processing skills.
