About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Dietetic Assistant to join our team at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Dietetic Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting our dietitians in providing high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Support
    • Assist dietitians in reviewing and monitoring patient cases, including patients on tube feeds, limited nutritional intake, and those following therapeutic diets.
    • Conduct face-to-face discussions with patients and their relatives or carers to ensure accurate nutritional information.
    • Liaise with nursing staff and other multidisciplinary team members to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Catering Support
    • Work closely with catering staff to ensure the provision of therapeutic diets, snacks, supplements, and enteral feeds.
    • Code menus to reflect changes in food supplied and communicate with catering suppliers, managers, and chefs.
  • Administrative Support
    • Order and supply nutritional products to wards and outpatients.
    • Process invoices and maintain accurate records of stock checking and billing.
  • Education and Training
    • Participate in the induction of new ward and dietetic staff, demonstrating the role of the Dietetic Assistant.
    • Deliver training to staff and patients on aspects of nutrition and therapeutic diets.
Requirements
  • Good general level of education up to at least A level (or equivalent).
  • Study of subject(s) related to food/health/nutrition to at least A level standard (or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work without supervision and respond to unpredictable working patterns.
  • Basic working knowledge of the NHS.
