We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Dietetic Assistant to join our team at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Dietetic Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting our dietitians in providing high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Clinical Support
- Assist dietitians in reviewing and monitoring patient cases, including patients on tube feeds, limited nutritional intake, and those following therapeutic diets.
- Conduct face-to-face discussions with patients and their relatives or carers to ensure accurate nutritional information.
- Liaise with nursing staff and other multidisciplinary team members to ensure seamless patient care.
- Catering Support
- Work closely with catering staff to ensure the provision of therapeutic diets, snacks, supplements, and enteral feeds.
- Code menus to reflect changes in food supplied and communicate with catering suppliers, managers, and chefs.
- Administrative Support
- Order and supply nutritional products to wards and outpatients.
- Process invoices and maintain accurate records of stock checking and billing.
- Education and Training
- Participate in the induction of new ward and dietetic staff, demonstrating the role of the Dietetic Assistant.
- Deliver training to staff and patients on aspects of nutrition and therapeutic diets.
- Good general level of education up to at least A level (or equivalent).
- Study of subject(s) related to food/health/nutrition to at least A level standard (or equivalent).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work without supervision and respond to unpredictable working patterns.
- Basic working knowledge of the NHS.
