Clinical Excellence Specialist

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly motivated and driven Orthoptist to deliver sustainable change and excellence in clinical care. As an autonomous practitioner, the post holder will provide high-quality advanced specialised orthoptic assessment, diagnosis, and treatment across various sites.
The ideal candidate will have up-to-date knowledge of current practice and techniques, with evidence of continuing professional development. Excellent planning & organisational skills, good time management, and manual dexterity in the use of orthoptic equipment are essential for this role.
We offer leadership and improvement training to all new staff, which will enable you to explore further opportunities and develop your understanding of leadership and management skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality advanced specialised orthoptic assessment, diagnosis, and treatment as part of a busy multidisciplinary ophthalmology team
- Work both as an autonomous practitioner and part of the ophthalmology team, including orthoptists, optometrists, ophthalmologists, ophthalmic technicians, and nurses
- Participate in undergraduate/postgraduate teaching provided by the ophthalmology service
Requirements
- Diploma/degree in Orthoptics (B5/B6)
- HCPC registration (B5/B6)
- Evidence/experience of supervising and mentoring undergraduate Orthoptic students (B6)
