About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Obstetrician Specialist to join our team at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton. The successful candidate will have accreditation in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and be on the Specialist Register.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for Obstetrics and a special interest in Fetal Medicine. Subspecialist accreditation in Fetal medicine would be desirable but not essential. ATSM in Fetal medicine is essential.

The department has a 3 tier on-call rota for both Obstetrics and Gynaecology with a 1:12 on-call. This post will require cover of the Obstetric on-call part of the rota ONLY.

The candidate will join an already well-established team, which includes Consultants with special interests in Fetal Medicine, Maternal Medicine and diabetes, Urogynaecology, Menstrual Dysfunction, Minimal Access surgery, Endometriosis and Gynaecological Oncology.

Main Duties
  • Provide high-quality specialist diagnostic and treatment services to patients requiring obstetric services.
  • Manage obstetric patients at consultant level, including labour ward management and decision making regarding high risk obstetric patients.
  • Organise, manage and be responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of patients at Musgrove Park Hospital.
