Job Summary:

Fife College is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Learning and Skills Development Instructor to join our team in HMP Kilmarnock (Learning Centre). As a key member of our dynamic team, you will be responsible for delivering and assessing approved SQA qualifications to support the education and personal development of learners.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues, partners, and agencies to improve the learners' experience and provide a safe and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver and assess approved SQA qualifications up to and including SCQF Level 5 and accredited and non-accredited qualifications in a range of subject areas, with a focus on creative arts.
  • Update learning materials as required to meet learners' needs and interests within the context of the prison environment.
  • Participate in learner enrolment and completion of learner documentation, providing support and guidance to learners as needed.
  • Follow agreed quality assurance processes and procedures to ensure high-quality learning experiences.

Requirements:

  • Essential:
    • Minimum HNC or equivalent (SCQF Level 7) in a relevant area.
    • Qualification in SALL (Supporting Adult Literacy Learners) SCQF level 6 or other community-based learning qualification.
    • SQA units aligned to the national Occupational Standards for assessment, planning, and internal verification.
  • Desirable:
    • Assessor / Verifier awards.
    • Experience working with offenders or hard-to-reach learners.
    • Knowledge of the SQA Framework.

    • Appropriate knowledge of existing, emerging, and assistive technologies to support and enhance the learner journey.

Training:

The successful candidate will be required to complete mandatory in-house SPS Training, which includes classroom work and scenario-based physical movements for self-defence purposes.

Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Working Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
