About the Role

We are seeking an experienced healthcare assistant to join our team at Greensand Surgery, a semi-rural GP practice in mid-Bedfordshire. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background and excellent patient-facing communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the practice nursing and administrative teams in the delivery of clinical and administrative services.
  • Undertake venepuncture, NHS health checks, and collect specimens as directed.
  • Carry out baseline observations, facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, and advise patients accordingly.
  • Undertake wound care, dressings, and other clinical tasks.
  • Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics.
  • Carry out BMI checks, act as a chaperone, and administer flu vaccinations when trained.
  • Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation.
  • Provide support during minor operations, implants, and coil fits.
  • Deliver opportunistic health promotion and first diabetic checks when trained.

Person Specification

  • Successful completion of the Care Certificate or willingness to undertake.
  • Level 3/4 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
  • Experience of working within a GP practice, with strong clinical skills and confidence in all HCA duties.
  • Excellent patient-facing communication and interpersonal skills, with a consistently confidential manner and compassionate approach.
  • Ability to work independently and determine own workload priorities, as well as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
