Electrical and Mechanical Technician

Location: Bedfordshire (MK40)

Estimated Salary: £40,500 + Overtime (£200 additional payments for weekend call-outs)

About the Role

Hunter Selection requires an Electrical and Mechanical Technician to join their team, providing essential technical support and maintenance services to production equipment and site services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out routine maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failures
  • Detect and resolve electrical and mechanical issues affecting production efficiency
  • Collaborate with engineering shift managers on project-based work - new machine and production line deployments
  • Implement Predictive Maintenance (PPM) strategies, electrical and mechanical fault finding, problem solving, machine upgrades
  • Diagnostic and repair services for complex systems including PLCs, SCADA Systems, robots
  • Develop mechanical components using fabrication, fitting, machining and welding techniques
  • Participate in a weekend call-out/standby rota when necessary (with additional compensation)
Requirements
  • Proven track record as a multiskilled engineer with electrical and mechanical expertise
  • Completion of apprenticeship training or possession of relevant time-served certifications
  • Awareness of occupational health and safety standards and quality assurance protocols
  • Background in FMCG or packaging manufacturing industries
  • Capacity to function effectively in high-pressure environments
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities in electrical and mechanical contexts
  • Hands-on experience with Siemens PLCs and electrical fault finding
  • Contributing to Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives and planning/scheduling PPM activities
