Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Negotiate proposals to deliver high-quality development in Somerset, in accordance with national guidance, planning law, and adopted local plans.
  • Take decisions under the officer scheme of delegation for planning and other related applications.
  • Provide clear direction to deliver strategic priorities and meet financial targets.
  • Support senior colleagues at Area Planning and Strategic Planning Committees.
  • Update and advise elected members on strategic sites and associated matters.
  • Analyse and evaluate complex technical information to provide professional advice.
  • Balance competing demands of other services and negotiate complex S106 agreements.
Requirements

We are looking for a professional with excellent planning knowledge and experience in complex casework. You should be able to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and negotiation skills.

What We Offer

We support hybrid working and expect a presence at the office one day a week. This is a full-time role on a temporary contract basis.
